Today I read the last chapter of the book of Deuteronomy; the 5th book in the bible. THere was a stillness that came over me when I finished that stayed with me throughout the day. That feeling prompted me to share a little on yet another journey I'm on, and that's my walk through the bible.
On April 27, 2023, my husband and I were watching the podcast, Know For Sure. On this particular episode, they had a special guest, Kountry Wayne. I've heard interviews from him and they always very entertaining. This interview/conversation was still entertaining, but it hit a little different. He mentioned how he read every self help book you could name, but it wasn't until he read the bible that his life changed. The moment he said that, something lit up inside me.

Now, for some time before hearing this podcast it was always in the back of my head to start reading my bible more. I had even found a bible on Amazon and had it sitting in my "save for later" items. I just figured I could continue using my bible app and do a few bible plans here and there while also keeping up with the scripture of the day. Unfortunately, for me, the verses of the day became redundant and the bible plans didn't give me scripture but more devotion. I didn't know it then, but it was scripture I was looking for.
So, the moment I heard Kountry Wayne mentioned how he has read the bible from beginning to end, I know it was something I not only wanted to do, but needed and I immediately ordered my bible. The bible I choose was the CSB She Reads Truth Bible and I absolutely love it! It comes with didn't study plans and what I love the most is at the beginning of each book, there's a breakdown on what to expect to learn or takeaway from that book. Each book also has cute "fun facts" that coincide with the book as well, For Example, the book of Exodus had a map of the route from Egypt to Canaan.
When I started this journey, the goal was to read every day, but there has been plenty of days that were missed, which is way its been about 9 months and I'm only in Deuteronomy. At the end of 2023, I almost beat myself up about it, but then when the new year hit, I was on Deuteronomy, chapter 8, and when I say it spoke to my SOUL...it spoke to my SOUL and came at the right time! It was then that I truly understood that everything really happens exactly the way it is supposed. This journey is tailored just for me, and I just have to keep going.
In the beginning I was reading every night, but with noticing some nights I was just too tired to read anything and that was causing me to miss days. So, a little before the new year, I switched to reading in the morning, and starting the day with scripture is just what was needed. If you decide to accomplish a goal similar to this one, just make sure you stick to what works for you.

Along with my bible, I ordered bible tabs, because let's be honest, even thought I grew up as a Baptist baby, I do not remember where every book in the bible is, and it just makes everything easier. I also ordered highlighters made special for bibles so they don't bleed through the pages; and let's be honest, the pastel colors match my bible which makes them aesthetically pleasing! HA!
Next up is the book of Joshua, and after getting through all of the laws, I'm excited to enter the history portion of the bible and get into some story telling. I'm encouraging you to get you a bible, commit to a reading schedule and watch your life change!
